Bugs, Bugs, Bugs
I hate bugs.! No, really, I HATE bugs. No matter the size, I don't want to have anything to do with them. Thankfully, it is not so bad that I can't survive life. I love cats though. And I have 3 of them....Cat, Patch and Bruiser. So, why is it that my cat, Cat, seems to dwell on my dislike for bugs and loving brings me CRICKETS?! That's what I said, crickets. Not mice, but crickets! And I can always tell when he's coming because he has this horrible meow and he'll drop them near me. Do you know those things still jump after they have been beheaded?! Cat is so nice that the other evening (he only brings them up from the basement at night) after I threw one out with about 15 tissues, he very kindly ran back down to bring up another one. After that one, I went to bed only to have him bring one up to my bedroom! Have mercy, please!

Just thought that was pretty funny and wanted to share!

Loving Steven!
Jonathan and Samantha are always wanting to hold and feed the baby. Only they can't feed him! I am working on getting Steven to take a bottle, but he won't! I don't produce enough milk worth pumping so I have to use formula. I don't know what it is he doesn't like about the bottle. My father is the only one who got him to take it and Steven hasn't done it since! I have been working with Nicholas on his "gentle touches". He tends to grab, pinch and pull hair. Not intentionally...usually! He has gotten alot better with Steven. He tries to hug him and pat him on the back. Nicholas is a strong boy so when he does something, it is with all his might because he can't always control that movement. We still have some issues. He can be possessive and today Nick was upset about something during his PT. I was holding Steven and Nick tried to push him off my lap. It's the communication thing! Patience!
Fun times at the cottage
The kids also went swimming. Even Nick got in the water this last time we went up. He just held onto a rock and would dip his hands in the water. Of course, he fell face first and got the water in his mouth and up his nose. But he got right back in the water and did not want me to hold his hand. Samantha went in with out her life jacket and was having a blast! She is a water baby! Jon did not go with us this last time. He spent time with his Poppy and Grammy.
Go Dale Jr!
Jason is a HUGE Dale Earnhardt fan and when Dale Sr passed away, Jason moved right on to Jr. We have started all the kids out early on who to root for. I am partially a fan of Kasey Kahne (He is so cute!). We couldn't leave Steven out...we did have to buy a new outfit since Jr changed owners.

Happenings
Sorry I have no new picture to post. Actually, I have pictures. It is my computer that does not want to transfer them from the camera. And the disk I have from Wal-mart does not want to work. So I need to get the time to reload the program so you can all see what fun we are having lately.
We have been to the cottage a couple times and it has been beautiful! Although we miss Grandpa being there, we are having fun with cousin Mark from Texas. Or as the kids call him, "Uncle Mark". He has certainly won over Jonathan and Samantha. They want to know where he is and what he is doing every second they are up there. They will miss him when he his gone. I am glad they were able to spend some time with him. I am sure it was enlightening for him also! Mark may not think so, but he is very good with children.
I have been trying to get outside with the kids. We have gone for a walk a couple times, looking for treasures along the way. Jonathan found some good ones...I'm not even sure what they are. I try to get them to go outside while I hang out the clothes. They have been playing in the pool on some hot days. They love the water!
Today was a doctor day. Samantha had something going on on her legs. Thought it was poison ivy, but it turns out that she had a reaction to a bug bite. My children and their skin problems! Nicholas also saw the doctor but for something entirely different. I won't go into detail about that! Let's just say it is another one of the things Downs kids seem to have issues with. If I can give Nicholas six weeks of shots, I can deal with this! We have a wonderful pediatrician who has been preparing me for these types of issues. We must press on!
I have finally managed to order Jonathan's new curriculum for 1st grade. It has already arrived and we have looked through all the books. I am having a hard time keeping them out of the new books. Samantha will also be home schooled this year and she received a wonderful assortment for preschool. She is thrilled and can't wait to start. We are also going to try to get her into a Universal pre K program which is held at a church a mile down the road. She enjoys the socialization much more than Jonathan does. Although we still need to work on the Jekyll and Hyde attitude!
Steven is growing everyday. And starting to lose that beautiful hair...thanks to cradle cap! He has started smiling and cooing. I love it! He receives lots of complements when we are out. People are always stopping and commenting on him. Tonight as I was putting the groceries in the car the couple next to me were gushing over him and the lady was telling me about her niece. She is also 2 months old. Unfortunately, she has huge lump on her head and the doctors think it is a tumor. Once again, I neglected to get their name. I wanted them to know that I would be praying for this little girl and her family. The woman lost her first baby at four months and to have this happen, the mother is beside herself. I don't know if she knows Jesus. I kissed Steven as I put him back in the car seat and praise the Lord for the life he has given me.

The Kindness of Strangers
A few days ago, Sami and I went down to the ice cream place. While we were waiting for someone to take our order I noticed a penny on the ground. I told Sami to pick it up. The gentleman next to us was watching us and reached in his pocket and took out a dollar bill. He asked Sami if she would trade her penny for a what he had. Of course, she just stands there! The man's granddaughter tells him to just give the dollar to her and he does so. As we stood there talking, I mentioned to Samantha the Jonathan would be jealous because she received some money. He is always trying to find money around the house! The woman asks how old her brother is and I say "which one?!". We continue to talk and the man hands Sami 3 more dollars and tells her there is one for each of her brothers. I don't think I could say thank you enough to the man. And in my shock I negelcted to even get his name. Some day, I hope that we will be able to pass on such kindness to someone else. Just for the heck of it!
