Nick's visit to the cardiologist
What a loooong afternoon! All things considered, Nick held up well. We had an appointment at 1pm with the cardiologist. Always a long visit! And traffic was heavy to and from the city. I hate traffic! We arrived in the parking garage at 1230 and left at 315. AHHHHHH!! After waiting in the waiting room, you wait in the exam room. You move from room, to room, to room. Thankfully, Nick was still long enough to have both tests done. The good news is the hole in the bottom chambers of his heart, AtrioVentrical Septel Defect (AVSD), is "functionally closed"! But he still has a hole between the upper chambers, atrium. He will eventually need surgery to close that hole because it caused the right side of the heart to work harder. The dr is not concerned at this point. He said problems usually don't arise until 20 or 30 years later. So, Nick can continue on with his normal, happy, active life. Praise God!
LEAH
Loving Education at Home--LEAH. Well, I finally bit the bullet, went out of my comfort zone and joined a local homeschooling group. It happens to be a group where I already know a couple people. My mom and I were able to meet some moms at a breakfast recently. It was great to talk with everyone and get some new ideas. I look forward to the upcoming school year and am excited about this new venture in life. Hopefully, it will help keep me on track!
Olympian Fast Car Races
Our WOL Olympian Club had a fast car race on Saturday. Jon, Sami, Nick and I all had a matchbox car to race. Well, mine was a dump truck. Jason took time to race all his old matchbox cars to see which one was the fastest. Jonathan reclaimed his white Ferrari and Sami her car (I don't remember what it was!) and Nicky had a van. For the second year in a row Jonathan took the fastest car over all. Plus, he had the fastest car in his group, 1st & 2nd grade. Nicky won for his group which was anyone who wasn't in 1st-6th grade. He was actually 2nd but they won't give a trophy to an adult. So in the final race, Jon and Nicky raced against each other. Nicky came in second! Pretty good for the first time racing. Sunday after church a lady came to see Jason about what his trick was to get a fast ca!!

Spending time with cousins
Recently, we had the opportunity to spend some time with my cousins children. They were spending the weekend at my aunt and uncle's house, their grandparents. They had fun playing and going on an egg hunt. We have not seen them since their mother passed away. What beautiful children! I can see Tanya in them. It was great to see my aunt and uncle as well. On the down side, my uncle's cancer has apparently spread and he has lost alot of weight. He has stopped medication because it was not helping any. But he continues to do as much as he can! I was so glad to be able to spend this precious time with him and his grand children. In the days since, it has given me a wake up call. It has finally sunk in...time is precious. I certainly don't know when life will take me or my children. I no longer think that I don't have time. I have anything but time for my children. I remember when I was pregnant with Jonathan and a friend telling me, quite a few times, to spend as much time as possible with him. He is only young once. Well, Margaret, I understand now! Thank you! We have so little time. Why not make the most of it?!
Nicky's class Easter party
Sami, Stevie and I had the pleasure of attending Nicholas' class Easter party. It was fun to watch Nick interact with his little friends. The class came out to the waiting area so we could get a picture. Nick didn't want to leave his little brother out of it!

Sami marched into class holding Nicky's hand. Then the class sang a few songs and had an egg hunt. Sami tried helping Nick with that, also. I think he was more interested in watching everyone else. He sat at the table and had a snack. At one point, he tried to eat his friends cupcake! He seemed to enjoy himself. Then hopped on the bus and started his vacation!
